Army dismantles GAO ELN explosives hideout, in Norte de Santander department

Ejército desmantela depósito de explosivos del GAO ELN en Norte de Santander

In coordination with the National Police, it was possible to find the elements that would be used by the Juan Fernando Porras Martínez front of this armed group to commit possible terrorist acts.

Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, soldiers of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Norte de Santander, in coordination with the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) Anti-Narcotics, reported the dismantle of an illicit hiding place with abundant explosive elements that would belong to the Juan Fernando Porras Martínez front of the organized armed group, GAO, ELN.

Thanks to the intelligence work of Colombian National Army, the troops reached the village of Cacahualá, in the municipality of Santiago, where, in coordination with the National Police, they found the illegal hiding place.

Two gas cylinders of 10 and 20 kilograms, apparently prepared with ANFO-type explosive elements, two sacks with approximately 100 kilograms of ANFO and three explosives of 5 kilograms each were found by troops at the site.

During the search, it was evident that each had an electric initiation system.

Additionally, a flag, an armband and a scarf alluding to the ELN were found by troops.

With the finding and subsequent controlled destruction of the explosive elements, Colombian National Army neutralized the terrorist acts that the GAO ELN planned to execute.
