This residual organized armed group had displaced the Adán Izquierdo Front of the Central General Staff months ago due to fighting in the municipality of Sevilla, Valle.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, Colombian National Army with troops of the Fifth Division, Eighth Brigade, on July 14, 2024, at 10 o'clock at night and during the early hours of the morning approximately, reported an important result in the municipality of Sevilla, Valle del Cauca. When the soldiers were in the framework of military operations, they engaged a combat against a structure of the Yair Bermúdez 57th Front until the early hours of the morning.
The soldiers of the High Mountain Battalion N.°5 were attacked with indiscriminate fire by this residual organized armed group, and, once the combat was over, a search was made to confirm the arrest of 4 individuals and the death in the framework of operations of 4 men, members of the 57th Yair Bermúdez Front. In the same way, in this search, there is a deceased person, about whom the respective investigation is being conducted to determine the motives, identity and origin, by the Attorney General's Office.
Meanwhile, 3 long rifle-type weapons, a short weapon, magazines, ammunition, communication radios, equipment for the exclusive use of the Military Forces and 5 motorcycles were found by troops at the scene; the individuals were in the same way put into custody of the authority.
During the military operation, one Soldier was injured by a firearm and was subsequently taken to a health care center.
The Attorney General's Office and the Technical Investigation Staff carry out urgent acts, technical inspections and the investigation.
