There were five feared terrorists who led the criminal revenues from illegal mining, kidnapping, extortion and targeted killings in the inhabitants and Military Forces in this important region.
After more than three months of military intelligence work, troops of the Hercules Task Force of Colombian National Army, jointly with the National Navy, the Aerospace Force and in coordination with the National Police, have dealt a serious blow to the Coordinadora Guerrillera del Pacífico, of the Second Marquetalia, in the Telembi triangle.
The first military operation was carried out in the rural area of the municipality of Roberto Payán, where troops of the Ground Operations Battalion N.° 14 arrived and, in conjunction with the Aerospace Force and in coordination with the National Police, arrested in flagrante delicto three members of the Mariscal Sucre Structure, belonging to the armed group of alias Yoni, the third ringleader of the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, Segunda Marquetalia. These individuals were in charge of collecting the money from extortions against merchants, from whom they demanded payments through invoices as a pressure mechanism.
With their threats and constant intimidation, they kept the people in fear, generating an atmosphere of fear and anxiety.
In the second military operation carried out in the municipality of Olaya Herrera, troops of the Ground Operations Battalion N.° 16, of the Hercules Task Force, of Colombian National Army, reported the arrest of two individuals belonging to the Alfonso Cano Structure, and the forced recruitment of two minors, one aged 16 and one aged 17, who had taken them to the ranks of the terrorist group GAO-r Segunda Marquetalia in the Sanquianga region.
During the military operations, it was possible to find seven handguns, 286 ammunition of different calibers, military accessories material, diaries, bracelets, and electronic operations, where systematic extortions against local merchants were being registered.
Thanks to this power of the military operation, it was possible to significantly weaken the finances, the armament, the mobility capacity and the criminal operations of these groups outlaw, generating direct and sustained impacts on the criminal structures that commit crimes in the southwest of the country.
The Hercules Task Force continues its offensive deployment in the region, protecting the inhabitants and reaffirming its call to report any criminal activity on lines 107 and 147.
