On the road that connects Algeciras, department of Huila, with San Vicente del Cagu谩n, department of Caquet谩, the troops of the High Mountain Battalion No. 9, of the Ninth Brigade, have intensified their operations to work for the promotion of security and well-being. In the framework of these tasks of stability and control, they reported the arrest of a man and the finding of a millionaire shipment of narcotics.
The operation was reported at a checkpoint, where the soldiers detected a van that suddenly stopped when they noticed the military activity. Immediately, the soldiers, following the security protocols, approached the point and required the driver information about the vehicle. He said he was in the area to pick up a tomato cargo.
When the troops were about to conduct the search, the man started to escape, ignoring the orders of the Army. Faced with the situation and with the aim of preserving the good physical condition of his comrades, one of the soldiers initiated the pursuit, and injured the individual in an arm, so first aid was immediately provided.
The 22-year-old individual said that he was transporting marijuana, which led to a thorough search of the vehicle, where troops found a false wall hiding 1939 kilos of narcotics distributed in 1449 packages, differentiated by colors and stamps, suggesting an identification system by customer. According to preliminary information, the cargo would belong to the Rodrigo Cadete criminal structure, of the Jorge Su谩rez Brice帽o Bloc.
After his arrest, the individual along with 3,914,000 pesos in cash, a cell phone and the drug were put into custody of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office for their respective judicial process.
This result reaffirms the commitment of Colombian National Army to the security of the inhabitants and the frontal fight against drug trafficking, which weakens the illicit activities that disturb the stability of the regions. The operation demonstrates the effectiveness of territorial control and joint work to stop drug trafficking routes for abroad.
