Army finds laboratory with more than half a ton of cocaine hydrochloride in Norte de Santander Department

Ejército ubica laboratorio con más de media tonelada de clorhidrato de cocaína en Norte de Santander

In 2024, Colombian National Army, combating the problem of drug trafficking, has destroyed in controlled conditions 38 tons of the illicit substance, decisively damaging the activities of organized armed groups.

Within the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations, troops of the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, conducted in the rural area of Tibú, Department of Norte de Santander, allegedly destroyed a cocaine hydrochloride laboratory belonging to the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 33.

More than half a ton of the illegal substance was found in the place, as well as more than 100 gallons of CHCL, with an estimated cost of $3,000,000,000 COP, and precursors and elements for its manufacture and production.

With this result, the estimated production of 1,080,000,000 doses was prevented, and it managed to save the lives of more than 135,000,000 people by preventing consumption.

These military operations are carried out in compliance with the policies issued in the Ayacucho Plan and the guidelines established by the national Government, in order to decisively combat the illicit activities of organized armed groups and transnational organized crime, contributing to the protection of life, peace and natural resources.
