This work fulfils the goal set by the National Government of planting 480,000 trees in the region. Besides more than 1,200 hectares have in been recovered in these departments which have been deforested by illegal activities that generate serious environmental damage.

Troops of the National Army, fulfilling the strategy Agua, Biodiversidad y Medio ambiente (Water, Biodiversity and Environment) of the Presidency of the Republic, and in assistance to 880 early alerts, planted 480.506 types of trees in areas that organized armed groups used for illicit plantations, illicit exploitation of mineral deposits and the dumping to the soil of chemicals used for production drugs.

In Antioquia, 354,543 trees have been planted; in Choc贸, 69,497; in Cordoba, 34,270; in Santander, 18,546; in Sucre, 1,850; and in Boyac谩, 1,800. These efforts have led to the recovery of more than 1,200 hectares that had been devastated by the Organized Armed Groups (GAO) GAO Clan del Golfo, the GAO Los Caparros, the GAO ELN and the dissidences, which profit through these illicit rents and at the same time generate irreparable environmental damage.

The types of trees planted in these territories are grown in nurseries that the National Army has set up in its military units to recover deforested areas.
