Colombian National Army is strengthening its presence on rural roads in order to detect the transportation of hallucinogens by criminal groups.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, in the last few hours, thanks to the permanent operations in the sector by troops of the Eighth Brigade, it was possible to hit the illegal finances of drug trafficking.
This result was possible through an action operation of the Mountain Battalion N.° 5, the Region 3 of the Anti-Narcotics Police and the Departmental Police of Quindío, through a checkpoint on the road that contacts to the municipality of Calarcá, department of Quindío, exactly in the sector of Balboa, on the road that contacts with the city of Armenia.
On this road, the troops were inspecting the vehicles, when one of them was found to have more than 117 packages, which tested positive for marijuana. Allegedly the hallucinogen came from the municipality of Genova, department of Quindío, and was bound for the capital city of the country.
Colombian National Army will continue to carry out military operations to attack illicit activities in the coffee-growing territory, and will maintain its presence on these rural roads to counter the intentions of criminal groups to transfer narcotics.
