The drug would generate an illegal income for this GAO of 1,000 million pesos in Colombia and more than 3,000 million pesos abroad.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, in the last few hours, thanks to the permanent operations in the sector by troops of the Ayacucho Battalion and the N.°8 Field Artillery Battalion, it was possible to hit the illegal finances of the organized armed group (GAO) GAO Clan del Golfo.
This result was possible through an operation by the Field Artillery Battalion No. 8 and through a checkpoint on the road that connects the municipality of Jardín, Antioquia, with Riosucio, Caldas, exactly in the village of Peñas Blancas, in Caldas territory.
When the troops were on the spot checking the vehicles that were passing along the road axis, they noticed that a motorcycle returned on the road and a guy driving a blue pickup truck was planning to run away, ignoring the stop signal and putting at risk the life of a soldier, who reacted timely and fired a shot at the car's engine.
When the vehicle was stopped, the soldiers immediately inspected it, and found more than 780 packages of a green substance, which after review, the authority determined that it was 700 kilograms of marijuana, which were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office; the man was arrested in flagrante delicto for the crime of drug trafficking.
The hallucinogen was found in the municipality of Santander de Quilichao, department of Cauca; the individuals planned to take it through tertiary roads to the department of Antioquia.
