Through interception work, the illicit finances of this armed group were hit, with the finding of a laboratory with a monthly production capacity of two tons of narcotics.
Troops of the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, CONAT, in coordination with the National Police, carried out in the village Rumbón de La Esperanza, department of Norte de Santander, the finding of a laboratory for the production of illicit substances, that would cost about 3,400 million pesos.
In the illegal construction, which would belong to the so called GAO Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada, the troops found 600 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and disabled equipment and machinery necessary for the production of narcotics.
The intelligence information led to establish that this laboratory had a monthly production capacity of 2 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, a drug that was sent from the Department of La Guajira to the United States and Europe.
Thanks to this military operation, the circulation of 600,000 doses of cocaine was prevented.
As of 2025, CONAT has found 271 laboratories for the production of illicit substances in the country.
The Colombian National Army, through differential military operations, will continue to work for the security and tranquility of communities, countering the problem of drug trafficking and illicit activities in the national territory.
