The military operation being carried out by Colombian National Army has potently hit this armed group in the Northern subregion of the department.
Troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 4 of the Fourth Brigade fought against alleged members of the residual organized armed group Structure 36.
The events were reported in the village of Cañaveral Arriba, in the municipality of Angostura, in the north of Antioquia.
As a result, troops reported the death in the framework of military operations of an alleged member of this criminal structure, who would be alias Cinco, ringleader of the armed group of the group, with more than a decade inside criminal organizations.
Alias Cinco was in the list of the most wanted of the department of Antioquia and was wanted by the authorities for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes and prison escape.
This individual had criminal experience in the use of explosive devices and would be in charge of collecting money from extortions made against from different productive groups in the Northern subregion, as well as installing flags alluding to this structure and disseminating pamphlets related to the installation of explosive devices, with which he sought to intimidate the inhabitants.
During the military operation, it was possible to find two rifles, two pistols, a revolver, magazines, ammunition, cell phones and two motorcycles, material that would be used by this illegal group to carry out criminal operations in the area.
Through this result, Colombian National Army continues to weaken the resources of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Structure 36, an organization responsible for generating intimidation and anxiety among the inhabitants through its criminal activities.
Similarly, this year 2025, the structures of the GAO-r in the operations area of the Seventh Division have been hit in its armed component, where through military operations 27 of its members have been arrested, 13 have surrendered to justice and five have died in the framework of military operations.
