The operation occurred on the road that connects Tame with Arauca, in the department of Arauca, where earlier this week organized armed group blocked the road by crossing two vehicles to attract troops to that place and attack them.
Within the framework of operations and in compliance with tasks of territorial control and institutional presence, in the last few hours, troops of the National Army found and destroyed in controlled conditions a powerful improvised explosive device, which ELN terrorists would have installed in the rural area of Tame, Arauca.
The finding of this charge, of more than 200 kilos of explosive, was made thanks to military intelligence work conducted by the Eighteenth Brigade.
After its finding, anti-explosive technicians, after adopting the security protocols provided for this kind of situation, proceeded to destroy it in controlled conditions and thus preventing attacks against the life and good physical condition of the inhabitants and the Military Forces.
This important result of the military operation took place very close to the Betoyes sector, where last Tuesday, January 21, armed individuals belonging to that organized armed group, intimidated a driver of a private service vehicle, proceeding to cross the vehicle, stopping mobility and the economic and daily activities of the inhabitants.
This action, where once again the criminal intentions of the ELN against the inhabitants and the Military Forces are evidenced, becomes a clear violation of Human Rights and a serious violation of International Humanitarian Law, by using prohibited means and methods which can beat, generate serious injuries and cause death to children, adults, pregnant women and people in general who daily use this important road for their daily activities.
