Thanks to the coordinated effort together with the Police and the Attorney General's Office, it was determined that this man, who has an extensive criminal record, is accused of being the political coordinator of this organized armed group in the department.
As part of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, the troops of the 8th San Mateo Field Artillery Battalion, the 9th Urban Special Forces Battalion, the Police of the Risaralda department and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, during a coordinated operation in Belen de Umbria, arrested alias Chucky.
The intelligence information managed the deployment of the troops to the village of Columbia in a joint military operation with the other institutions, in order to arrest this man, who belongs to the Edwin Román Velásquez Valle Structure, of the organized armed group GAO Clan del Golfo.
This induvial had two functions within this criminal organization, one as a proselytizer, intimidating the communities of the rural area to summon them to meetings and generate fear within the inhabitants by identifying himself as part of the GAO Clan del Golfo, and in the same way as a recruiter, where he was looking for teenagers and young people from other regions of the country by digital means to convince them to join this gang by means of lies.
In their possession, digital files were found by troops that were sent to previously identified young people to convince them and then asking for all the personal data to carry out a search, so they became the new victims of forced recruitment of minors.
Alias Chucky was wanted with a valid arrest warrant for the crime of using minors in the gang, in addition to having investigations for homicide, manufacturing, trafficking or carrying weapons, sexual acts with a child under 14 and domestic violence.
Through this arrest, the political capacity of the GAO Clan del Golfo in the western municipalities of Risaralda is broke up, in addition to reducing the capacity to fight by hitting the illegal recruitment processes.
