The troops are on alert and conduct heavy operations in the municipalities of Meta. The current security strategy focuses on criminals who profit from extortion.
Colombian National Army increased operations in the department of Meta to combat crime and curb the operations of criminal groups that intend to take the product of work of the people. Through this reorganized security strategy, the aim is to deal other powerful blows to those who intend to continue extorting the money of peasants, merchants and businessmen.
The troops activated the alerts in all the procedures conducted in the municipalities of the department. Over the weekend, in the Sim贸n Bol铆var neighborhood of Granada, soldiers of the 21st Infantry Battalion Batalla Pantano de Vargas, in coordination with the National Police, arrested in flagrante delicto a man who was carrying a backpack with war material.
The individual had in his possession 1 traumatic pistol, 1 magazine and 3 9 mm cartridges, as well as 1 magazine for 5.56 mm Galil rifle and 142 5.56 mm caliber cartridges and 41 doses of cocaine hydrochloride.
The detainee was with a group of people who started to escape when they saw the work of the authorities. The soldiers reacted in a timely manner and intercepted the individual who will now have to face charges for the crime of trafficking, carrying and manufacturing of war material.
