Two men and a woman were arrested in flagrante delicto.
Within the framework of the military operations aimed at countering the illicit activities of the residual organized armed groups, troops of the Infantry Battalion No. 27 Magdalena, of the Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army, reported the arrest of three people and the finding of more than a billion pesos that were being transported in a hidden in a private vehicle.
The events were reported in the village of El Cedro, municipality of Pitalito; there, the soldiers, through a checkpoint and the stop signal, conducted a thorough search for a car. 35 packages wrapped in transparent vinyl paper were found by troops, which contained the millionaire sum of money.
During the procedure, one of the arrested offered the soldiers 10 percent of the money found, with the purpose of evading military control. However, the members of the Military Forces, acting with total ethics, professionalism and commitment to legality, rejected the bribe and proceeded to materialize the arrest of the three people in the vehicle, who were put into custody of the CTI, for the alleged crimes of illicit enrichment and bribery.
The arrested did not justify the origin of the money, thus configuring the alleged illicit activity. This result would be neutralizing an important source of resources that apparently was intended to strengthen the activities of the residual organized armed group Comandos de Frontera.
With operations like this one, Colombian National Army, in coordination with the judicial authorities, ratifies its commitment to transparency, the fight against corruption and the defense of legality, reaffirming to the people of Huila that no attempt at bribery will be bigger than the honor and the constitutional mission of the soldiers of Colombia.
