Troops of the Urban Special Forces Battalion No. 4 and the Infantry Battalion No. 21 Batalla del Pantano de Vargas, infiltrated the rainforest area of Mapiripán for several days to powerfully attack guerrillas who are under the command of alias Ivan Mordisco.
In the framework of the military operation Elias, troops reported the recovery of a minor, the arrest of 3 individuals, one death in the framework of military operations, the confiscation of 13 rifles, 1 7.62 mm caliber machinegun, 1 grenade launcher, 5 handguns, abundant ammunition and war material; this was the result of the work of the soldiers of the Seventh Brigade who fight powerfully for the security of the Meta department.
Among those arrested is alias Gato Bonito, ringleader of the law and order group of Structure 39 Arcesio Niño, who was injured during the operation, later, in the framework of respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, he received first aid from a military nurse; this ringleader is accused of carrying out the murder of the president of the communal action board of the Caño Mangón village of Mapiripán, as well as of carrying out coercion and extortions to the inhabitants of Villavicencio, Puerto Gaitán and Mapiripán.
This operation, which was carried out within the framework of the Ayacucho campaign plan, was made possible thanks to military intelligence in coordination with the National Police Intelligence Directorate, in the same way counting on the support of the Colombian Aerospace Force with the distribution of weapons. Those arrested and the war material were put into custody of the judicial authority.
