The power of the military operation, department of Norte de Santander, directly hits the illegal armed structures that finance their actions through drug trafficking. This action managed to neutralize the production capacity of up to one ton of cocaine hydrochloride per month.
Within the framework of military operations against drug trafficking, troops of the Medium Cavalry Group No. 5 General Hermógenes Maza, of the Thirtieth Brigade, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, carried out the finding and dismantling of a laboratory used for the production of cocaine hydrochloride in the village of Ricaurte, rural area of the municipality of Cúcuta, department of Norte de Santander.
The military operation managed to neutralize an illegal construction made of five rustic constructions that were used by the Northeastern War Front of the organized armed group (GAO) ELN to strengthen its illegal activities.
This result represents a strategic loss to the criminal revenues of the GAO ELN, estimated at approximately 3.6 million dollars, significantly weakening its financial, logistical and criminal subsystem.
At the scene of the events, the troops seized 305 kilograms of solid cocaine hydrochloride, 110 gallons of suspended cocaine hydrochloride and 264 gallons of suspended cocaine base, preventing their distribution to national and international illicit markets. In the same way, more than 1250 gallons of liquid chemical precursors were found by troops, as well as 174 kilograms of solid precursors, fundamental elements in the production of the alkaloid.
Similarly, equipment used in the production and packaging of the narcotic was seized at the site, including hydraulic presses, microwave ovens, distillation systems, power generators, vacuum packers, filtration systems and other logistical elements used for the industrial production of the alkaloid.
The Thirtieth Brigade reaffirms its commitment to continue carrying out powerful military operations to neutralize illicit activities and weaken criminal structures, as well as their logistical and financial resources, strengthening security and stability in the department of Norte de Santander and contributing to the protection of the inhabitants and the territory.
