Army troops neutralize terrorist intentions of the Eln in El Catatumbo

The Vulcano Task Force continues its operational effort to neutralize the activities of organized armed groups.

Norte de Santander. In the framework of the Military and Police Campaign 'Esparta' and in compliance with the 'Victoria Plus Stabilization and Consolidation Plan', soldiers of the Vulcano Task Force conducted decisive operations that hit the illicit economies and neutralize the terrorist intentions that members of the ELN intended to realize against the civilian population.

In a first military operation, five laboratories of coca base paste were destroyed in rural areas of the municipalities of Teorama, El Tarra and Tibú, in Norte de Santander.

In those places, troops found a total of 3,408 gallons of coca base paste in process, 916 gallons of gasoline, 910 kilos of solid precursors, a chopper and six spraying pumps.

In another operation, which was carried out in the secondary road that contacts the municipality of Convencion with the hamlet La Trinidad, the military units found an explosive device and two means of launching, which would be used by the ELN to hit the population and the troops. In addition, two more antipersonnel mines were found in the rural area of the municipality of Tibú.

All of these explosive devices, thanks to the special capabilities of the team of experts in explosives and demolitions of the National Army, were destroyed according to the protocols established for this type of procedure.
