Army troops neutralized six explosive devices that endangered the inhabitants in the department of Caquetá

Tropas del Ejército neutralizaron seis artefactos explosivos que ponían en peligro a la población civil en Caquetá

In compliance with stability and protection operations to the inhabitants, troops of the Mountain Battalion N.° 9, of the Ninth Brigade, reported the finding and controlled destruction of six explosive devices that were a serious risk to the rural communities of the department of Caquetá.

The operation took place in the village of El Oso, of Guayabal, municipality of San Vicente del Caguán, where, thanks to military search and area control, 3 60-millimeter caliber mortar rounds and 3 anti-personnel mines were found by troops, apparently hidden in the place by members of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Rodrigo Cadete Structure.

The team specialized in Explosives and Demolitions (EXDE) followed the technical and security protocols to carry out the controlled destruction of the elements, preventing possible damages to peasants, children and members of the Military Forces.

This result neutralizes a latent threat to the integrity of the inhabitants, reduces the capacity for action of residual organized armed groups and reaffirms the institutional commitment to conduct the clearance of the territory contaminated with improvised explosive devices.
