Arrest of 3 members of the GAO Eln, responsible for the traffic of fuels and petroleum

These individuals would apparently be the largest fuel traffickers in the Catatumbo region.

In the framework of the Esparta military and police campaign, troops of the Energy Operations Command No.1 of the Second Division, in a coordinated and inter-agency work with the National Police and the Attorney General's office, in the rural area of the municipality of El Tarra, in the department de Norte de Santander, arrested three alleged criminals who perpetrated the theft of fuels to support for terrorism network of the Organized Armed Group, GAO - Eln.

The arrests of the three individuals were carried out, thanks to intelligence information of the troops of the Special Energy and Road Battalion No.6, which helped to track down these three fuel traffickers of the GAO-Eln terrorist Support Network, who were reportedly distributing the petroleum to supply those in charge of the cocaine production laboratories in the more remote areas of the Catatumbo region.

It should be noted, that these criminals are required within a criminal investigation directed by the prosecutor's Office 130 specialized against criminal organizations with an arrest order, for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes, terrorism, and trafficking of fuels of the Ca帽o Lim贸n - Cove帽as pipeline.

In the investigations it was established that a large amount of the fuels were transported to different cities of the country, as well as transnationally trafficked.

Actions like these once again demonstrate the criminal operations of organized armed groups that attack the environment and strategic assets of the State.
