Alias Chemba, Iván Márquez's right-hand man, had been in the criminal organization for more than a decade. He is accused of leading terrorist acts in the sector, as well as being the top recruiter of minors for the gang, head of the drug trafficking business in the region and coordinator of the terrorism support networks (RAEr) of the Alfonso Cano Structure, in Olaya Herrera.
After three months of military intelligence work and a joint and coordinated work, troops of the Hercules Task Force, of Colombian National Army, together with the National Navy and the National Police, arrested in flagrante delicto alias Chemba. This individual, as the main ringleader of the RAEr, of the residual organized armed group Segunda Marquetalia, Structura Alfonso Cano, led terrorist operations, coordinated extortions, recruitment of minors, armed control and the drug trafficking business for the organization.
The military operation was carried out in the urban area of the municipality of Olaya Herrera. There, the military and police units arrested this guy, who was caught with weapons in his possession. A .38 caliber revolver and 25 rounds of ammunition were seized, with which he was allegedly planning armed operations in the area.
This arrest represents a high-impact blow, which weakens the logistical, armed and territorial control resources of the GAO-r Segunda Marquetalia, so that its scope for operation in the Nariño Pacific region is increasingly limited.
Alias Chemba was put into custody of the authorities for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying firearms. Through this important result, Colombian National Army reiterates its commitment to the fight against the armed groups that commit crimes in the Nariño Pacific region and disturb the tranquility of its inhabitants.
