Arrest of alleged responsible for installing explosives in commercial premises in Florencia, Caquetá

This year, our soldiers of the Twelfth Brigade have found and destroyed more than 20 explosive devices used indiscriminately by illegal armed groups to attack civilians and Military Forces in the department.

Last weekend, the tranquility of the inhabitants of Florencia was interrupted by the detonation of an explosive device that was planted in a commercial area of the capital city of the department of Caquetá; quickly the authorities arrived at the scene to cordon off the place and work to raise the security of the sector.

Thanks to the operational strength of our troops of the Combat Engineer Battalion No.12 of the National Army in coordination with the National Police, it was possible to arrest the alleged responsible for this action that fortunately did not leave human losses.

The arrest was made in the municipality of Milan, the place where the individual known as alias Joker had fled; he was apparently in charge of leaving the explosive device in the commercial premises.

This individual had with him explosives, communications equipment, pamphlets alluding to the GAO-residual structure Míller Perdomo and two motorcycles, used for the distribution of the pamphlets and the collection of money from extortions of money.

The arrested man was put into custody of the authorities and will have to face charges of association to commit crimes for extortion purposes, manufacture, trafficking and carrying of weapons, ammunition for restricted use exclusive of the Military Forces.
