The operation took place in the urban area of the municipality of La Macarena, Meta, where troops of the Omega Task Force of Colombian National Army, in support of units of the National Police, executed a search warrant in a house used to store war materiel.
Alias Raúl was arrested in flagrante delicto and is accused of carrying out criminal intelligence work and extorting money of cattle ranchers and merchants of the villages near La Macarena, with the aim of strengthening the illegal finances of this structure. According to intelligence reports, this individual had been a member of that organization for eight years.
In the raid, 3 firearms, a magazine, 6 rounds of ammunition, more than 10 million pesos, a laptop computer and four cell phones were found by troops.
By means of this result of the military operation, it was possible to a significant blow against the organized armed group John Linares Structure, which operates in the south of the department of Meta.
The Omega Task Force, of Colombian National Army, calls on citizens to denounce acts of extortion and kidnapping through the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) line 147, in order to continue conducting military operations against this organized armed group, responsible for multiple crimes against the inhabitants and the Military Forces in this region of the country.
