Units of the Colombian Navy found the Emergency Position Radio Beacon (EPIRB), which corresponds to the identification number of the Navy mobile system of the Bolivian ship CARMEN I.

This radio transmitter, used in emergency situations for the finding of a ship, aircraft or person, is a device that sends intermittent signals with data that carries an identification of ships during the search operation.

Although the transmitter was found floating offshore by a Caribbean Naval Force ship, no positive results were obtained on the location of the ship.

In the same way, during the patrols were found other floating elements that would be part of the cargo of the Bolivian flag ship, according to the data confirmed in the cargo manifest, a document that describes the materials carried on board the boat.

It should be mentioned that once the facts were known and the search and rescue operation was activated, the command of the Caribbean Naval force headed by Rear Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo Obregón, followed up and monitored the patterns of navigation, accompanied by of the interdisciplinary team of the Colombian Navy and the General Maritime Directorate.

Simultaneously with the search and rescue operation, through the Caribbean Coast Guard Command, Communication was established with the relatives of the crew members, keeping them informed on the current situation, pending official results.

The Colombian Navy will continue to carried out the search and rescue work through the deployment of air and maritime units, in order to achieve the rescue of the ten crew members of the boat CARMEN I.
