With the aim of improving the quality of life of the villages of the Colombian Pacific, the Colombian Navy, in coordination with public and private institutions, carried out a Development Support Activity that benefited 1,430 inhabitants of the village of Bajo Calima, in the municipality of Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca.
There were 133 people, including military and health professionals, volunteers, who participated in this activity, which provided the people of Bajo Calima with medical assistance in physiotherapy, general medicine, dentistry, pediatrics, psychology, nutrition, optometry, dental rehabilitation, social work, insertion of subdermal implants, vaccination, among other services.
This activity, was led by the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 2 of Buenaventura and had the support of the Porvenir Occupational Instruction Center, the Minuto de Dios Corporation, Etika Verde; the Agua Dulce Foundations, Alianzas Solidarias, Andrés Bedoya, Ángeles por Colombia, Cardio Clinic, Colombia Solidaria, Herencia de Timbiquí, Misión País, Patrulla Naval del Pacífico and Re Vida, as well as the Institute for Blind and Deaf Children.
During the activity, food baskets, footwear, clothing, school kits for children, presents and medicines were distributed. In the same way, eight wheel chairs were donated and recreational activities were carried out for all the inhabitants.
The event in the same way counted on the attendance of the Governor of Valle del Cauca, Mrs. Dilian Francisca Toro Torres; the Mayor of the Special District of Buenaventura, Ligia Del Carmen Córdoba Martínez; the Chief of Staff of the Pacific Naval Force, Naval Captain Samir Andrés Castellanos Abdala; and the Commander of the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 2, Navy Infantry Colonel Ricardo Alberto Visbal Heilbut, who, in coordination with the different institutions and foundations, made this Development Support Activity possible.
The Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to the well-being and comprehensive development of vulnerable communities, working in a coordinated manner with public and private institutions to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Colombian South Pacific.
