All these events were verified and closed thanks to the execution of the demining tasks.
"Although getting to Barrancominas involves long hours of travel by river or air, the mission does not stop. After several months of working together with the community, getting to know their culture and their vulnerabilities, including ruling out the suspicion of explosive devices, today we can present a territory in the heart of the Amazonas region free of that risk. We are pleased to have achieved this result thanks to the community liaison meetings with the local authorities and the inhabitants, in which we shared information and promoted education on the risk of anti-personnel mines," said Colonel Alexander Agudelo, Chief of Staff and Second commander of the 4th Humanitarian Demining Engineer Brigade.
During the work carried out by the Anti-Personnel Mine Risk Education instructors, 516 people were trained and 3,500 inhabitants were prepared on safe behaviors for prevention and self-care in the face of the possible presence of explosive devices.
