The Colombian Air Force, in an alliance with Medellín Public Companies EPM, initiated the project for the installation of solar panels in the Casanare Air Group, GACAS, a promotion of the use of renewable energy, contributing to the conservation and care of the environment in eastern Colombia.

In this project, 346 solar panels will be installed, equivalent to 198.4 KWp, which will generate about 307.2 MWh/year, preventing the production of 1013.65 tons of CO2, which represents the planting of 2,712 trees and the annual energy consumption of 150 families, reporting a reduction of up to 24.7% of energy in this Unit; significantly reducing the carbon footprint in this region of the country.

This was made possible by the electromagnetic radiation coming from the sun on the solar photovoltaic panels, which leads to saving natural resources thanks to a 100% reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels, being totally friendly to the environment.

As part of the social responsibility with the environment, the Air Force has carried out this project in the Air Combat Command No. 1 (Puerto Salgar), Air Combat Command No. 3 (Atlantic), Air Combat Command No. 4 (Tolima), Air Combat Command No. 5 (Antioquia), Amazonas Air Group and now the Casanare Air Group, GACAS.

The use of renewable energies and technological innovation contributes to the protection and conservation of the environment, being the Colombian Air Force a reference of environmental responsibility at national and international level, which strengthens the strategy of implementation of clean energies throughout the national territory.
