In a coordinated operation conducted by Colombia and Ecuador, with the support of international agencies, Colombian National Army made the arrests for extradition purposes.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Joint Strategic Campaign Plan and under the concept of Unified Ground Operations, Colombian National Army carried out simultaneous operations in both countries with the accompaniment of judicial authorities, police and international agencies. During the operation, three people were arrested accused of integrating a network specialized in drug trafficking and the illicit financing of criminal structures.
Troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No. 20, attached to the Brigade Against Drug Trafficking No. 3, arrived at the village of Mojarras, municipality of Mercaderes (Cauca), where alias Borucha, alleged financial coordinator of the residual group, was arrested. This individual is wanted by international warrant for the purpose of extradition for crimes related to drug trafficking and association to commit crimes.
Together with him, two foreigners were arrested, who had allegedly carried out logistical activities and liaising with international cartels. More than three kilograms of heroin and a vehicle were found by troops at the scene, directly damaging the GAO-r's finances and its ability to ship drugs to Central America and the United States.
Those arrested and the material found were put into custody of the authorities. Colombian National Army is constant in its commitment to security, defense and the fight against drug trafficking, and invites citizens to report criminal activities to the 107 Anti-Terrorism and 147 Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) lines.
