After two hours of combat, the threat of the members of this structure was neutralized and their armed resources were hit, protecting the inhabitants in this border area.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan and in binational coordination with the Ecuadorian Army, troops of Colombian National Army engaged intense fighting against members of the organized armed group Comuneros del Sur in the village Tiuquer, municipality of Cumbal, department of Nariño.
After more than two months of military intelligence, troops of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No. 3 of the Twenty-Third Brigade, in coordination with the Motorized Infantry Battalion No. 39 of the Ecuadorian Army, confronted members of the organized armed group (GAO) who were planning to carry out terrorist operations in this border area.
The operation and the fighting resulted in the death in the framework of military operations of one member of the GAO; four more got wounds and first aid was provided by combat nurses, in compliance with the International Humanitarian Law.
In the same way, six rifles, a mortar, 1158 cartridges of different calibers, magazines, 15 rudimentary grenades, a drone and war material used by this structure to intimidate and attack the inhabitants and the Military Forces were found by troops.
