In a binational operation, 884 kilos of marijuana are seized in the Amazon River

En operación binacional se incautan 884 kilos de marihuana

Within the framework of joint, coordinated and combined operations aimed at countering illicit activities in the Amazon region, Colombian and Peruvian authorities seized 884 kilograms of marijuana in the Amazon River, which apparently belonged to GAO E-48 Comandos de Frontera, in the border sector of the two countries, specifically in the Yahuma Arm, striking at the dynamics of transnational drug trafficking that commits crimes in this strategic area of the Amazon.

The operation was made possible thanks to key intelligence information supplied by the Colombian Aerospace Force, through the Amazon Air Group, in coordination with the Colombian Navy, the Regional Naval Intelligence of the Amazon, RINAM, the Rainforest Brigade No. 26 of Colombian National Army, the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, DIRAN, and units of the Peruvian Army, within the framework of binational cooperation to confront illicit activities that hit regional security.

During the operation, a boat equipped with a Yamaha 200 engine was found and intercepted, in which 884 kilograms of marijuana were transported, which allegedly would be transported through strategic river routes of the Amazon River for subsequent distribution. As part of this action, the Amazon Air Group sent its resources to carry out reconnaissance, surveillance and monitoring flights, strengthening the review and monitoring efforts in the area.

This result of the military operation is part of Objective No. 2 of the Ayacucho Plus Plan, aimed at hitting the logistical and financial structure of transnational drug trafficking that commits crimes in the Amazon region, weakening the armed and economic capacity of criminal structures on the triple border.
