Within the framework of joint operations against drug trafficking in the Colombian Caribbean and within the framework of the Zeus Strategy, the Colombian Aerospace Force and the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, have suffered the loss of a logistics center, understood as a strategic construction used by a transnational drug trafficking organization to concentrate resources, store supplies, narcotics, and coordinate logistics operations that supported their criminal acts in the north of the country.
In this way, helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft of the Air Combat Command No. 3 carry out surveillance, reconnaissance and intelligence missions, in addition to transporting military personnel in the Wawali sector, municipality of Uribía in the Department of La Guajira.
During the operation, a low-profile boat of approximately 52 feet in length was found, equipped with five outboard motors of 300 horsepower each, as well as a 42-foot Go Fast type boat with four motors of 300 horsepower. According to preliminary investigations, these ships would be used to transport drug shipments to international shipping routes used by transnational crime organizations.
In the same way, 131 cartridges of different calibers, four communication radios, seven satellite radios, two Starlink antennas, two GPS equipment, four cell phones and three ballistic vests were seized, elements that were allegedly used to support the logistical, coordination and communications activities of this drug trafficking structure.
Low-profile boats are considered one of the main means used by drug trafficking networks to evade the operations of the authorities, thanks to their design, speed and cargo capacity, which makes this result a significant loss to the logistical resources of these illegal structures.
