A blow dealt to illegal mining: 10 hectares of vegetation area recovered in Cauca

Golpe a la minería ilegal: Recuperadas 10 hectáreas de zona vegetal en el Cauca

Two mining production units that were damaging a plants area of approximately 10 hectares in a rural area of the Department of Cauca were found by troops thanks to a joint and coordinated operation against the illicit exploitation of mining deposits carried out by the Colombian Air Force, Colombian National Army, the Colombian Navy and the National Police.

 

During the procedure in the village of San Antonio de Guromendy, in the municipality of López de Micay, four (04) excavators, two (02) industrial engines and one (01) diver-type dredger were disabled, with which the Residual Organized Armed Groups, GAOr, produced a deforestation of 6,000 trees and 66,000m3 of soil removed.

 

According to the intelligence reports, the action is carried out by the GAO-r Structures Carlos Patiño and Jaime Martínez, who commit crimes in this sector of the country, committing several violations like this, which destroys ecosystems, to obtain resources with which they can finance and expand.

 

Aircraft and crews of the Air Combat Command No. 7 supported the execution of this important mission, which today not only leaves as a result the economic damage to these groups that act outlaw in Cauca, but in the same way the recovery of water sources contaminated by these illegal activities, which harmed the quality of life of the inhabitants of this village.
