In a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Aerospace Force, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, eight members of the David Mesa Peña Substructure belonging to the Gaitanista Self–Defense Forces of Colombia – AGC, were arrested in flagrante delicto for the crimes of trafficking and carrying firearms or ammunition.
The operation was carried out in the village El Vaticano in a rural area of the municipality of Plato, Magdalena, where they find three firearms, 102 5.56 caliber cartridges, six communication radios, a motorcycle, cell phones, among other elements which were put into custody of the authorities as well as those arrested.
Among those arrested is alias Damian, who would be the alleged determiner of the homicides that occurred in the municipalities of Zapayan, Pedraza and Concordia in Magdalena during the fourth quarter of 2023, including the homicide of a member of Colombian National Army in the village of Balsamo de Concordia.
In this way, the Military Forces will continue to work in a coordinated manner in order to decisively impact the Organizations of the, GAO, Clan del Golfo who commit crimes in this area.
