Within the framework of the operations carried out by the Colombian Navy against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, in a combined operation with the Ecuadorian Army, it was possible to find 2.24 tons of Creepy type marijuana, on the beaches of Cuyabero, Nueva Loja base, in the Republic of Ecuador.
Thanks to information gathered by the Amazon Information Fusion Center and the Ecuadorian Army, the authorities arrived at the place where the illegal merchandise was being kept, which was guarded by three individuals, who, upon noticing the activity of the members of the Military Forces, abandoned the shipment and began to escape into the rainforest.
According to preliminary information, it is presumed that the shipment would belong to organizations specialized in drug trafficking that commit crimes in criminal alliance with the Organized Gang Los Lobos, an Ecuadorian criminal structure specialized in drug trafficking, in coordination with the Residual Organized Gang Structure Comandos de Frontera.
Through this operation, a powerful blow was dealt to the finances of the organized armed groups, which facilitate the movement of narcotics from the department of Cauca, bound for the Colombo-Ecuadorian border, from where the drugs are transported through the Cuyabero and Aguarico rivers, towards the Napo River, to finally be distributed to criminal organizations and organized crime groups in Brazil.
The finding of this hideout prevented the distribution of approximately 371,840 doses, with an estimated cost of more than $13 million, significantly hitting the illicit activities of these criminal structures.
The Colombian Navy ratifies its commitment to the frontal fight against drug trafficking, in defense of national sovereignty and the country's security, contributing to keeping the Colombian Amazon region free of transnational crimes that hit the stability and tranquility of communities.
