The drug was apparently going to be distributed in networks of criminal groups specialized in microtrafficking. Operations are continuous in the area to counter this crime.
In the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations and in compliance with tasks of control and institutional presence, in the last few hours Colombian National Army, the Aerospace Force, with support of the Police and the Attorney General's Office of the Nation, found more than four tons of marijuana in a truck.
This important result of the military operation took place in the village of Bocas del Pauto, a rural area of the municipality of Trinidad, north of Casanare. There the troops led a coordinated work and found a heavy vehicle to which they made the stop signal. In the middle of the search, they discovered that among the elements, which apparently was a mess, there were some sacks concealing 4080 kilograms of marijuana.
According to the first information, the illegal shipment, which would belong to an organized armed group that commits crimes in the area, was to be distributed to the micro-trafficking networks that commit crimes in the Colombian Orinoquia region, to supply their illegal finances.
With the finding of this shipment, which would have a cost of more than 2,500 million pesos, the sale, distribution and consumption of about three million doses of this hallucinogenic substance is stopped.
This important result of the military operation against illegal finances becomes the largest and most important damage carried out in the last five years in the region, and constitutes a powerful blow against the logistical and criminal networks of the organized armed groups in La Orinoquia region in Colombia.
In the event, in addition to the finding of the drug and the vehicle, an individual was arrested. The detainee and the material were put into custody of the authorities for the respective prosecution process.
