Among those arrested is a hitman of the organization, who would be responsible for several criminal acts, mainly in the Middle Magdalena region.
Troops of the Santander Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), with its CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) component of the Attorney General's Office, made the arrest of three people allegedly members of the focused criminal component of the Edgar Madrid Benjumea Substructure, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, two men and one woman, one of them would be alias Rincón, alleged hitman of the structure.
The events were reported in the capital city of the country and in the village of Las Salinas, in the municipality of Rionegro, Santander, where the soldiers arrived after several months of investigation, to find these people wanted for crimes of aggravated extortion, association to commit crimes, aggravated homicide and illegal carrying of firearms.
Alias Rincón, 24 years old and about 3 years in the organization, would be responsible for approximately ten selective homicides; in the same way, he would be the alleged responsible for the attack carried out on the Police station at the dock of the Petroleum District, which occurred on October 24 of the previous year, in the same way for having carried out an armed attack in the village of Chingalé, in Puerto Wilches, on December 9, 2023; in the same way, on last March 4, he would have participated in an firefight where he sought to attack the lives of members of the Military Forces of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Santander, in the village of Las Salinas, and since April of this year, he would have been related to collection of money from extortion made against the people in the villages Rionegro and Puerto Wilches, Santander, with criminal interference in the same way in the south of Cesar and south of Bolívar.
Those arrested were put into custody of the judicial authority and through this heavy blow the financial subsystem of the armed structure is hit, hitting its criminal operations and neutralizing the expansion intentions in the Bajo Rionegro and the municipalities of Puerto Wilches and Sabana de Torres, Santander.
