Within the framework of military operations aimed at countering illicit activities hitting the department of Huila, troops of the Mountain Battalion No. 9, unit a of the Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army, with judicial support of the department of Huila Police, reported the arrest of two men for the alleged crime of money laundering.
The operation was carried out in the sector of the Quebradón Norte village, a rural area of the municipality of Algeciras, where the individuals were traveling on a motorcycle. During the procedure, the authorities found in their possession approximately 200 million pesos in cash, money they could not prove origin.
According to the first reports, this result of the military operation would be contributing to hit the criminal finances of the groups that commit crimes in this area of the department, weakening the structures that are financed through illicit activities.
Those arrested and the money were put into custody of the authorities to conduct the respective judicial processes.
