In the framework of the Military and Police campaign "Esparta" National Army troops, in coordination with the National Police, captured Elver Andelfo Cañizares Quintero, alleged logistics ringleader of the Organized Armed Group 'Los Pelusos', who is accused of aggravated conspiracy for extortion, terrorism and harm to others.
Thanks to the information of members of the Civic Participation Network, men of the Engineer Battalion No.30 'Coronel José Salazar Arana', of the Thirtieth Brigade, units of the Criminal Investigation Section (SIJIN - JUDICIAL POLICE), arrived in El Porvenir neighborhood, in Cúcuta, to capture the 26-year-old individual Elver Andelfo Cañizares Quintero.
This individual, born in Sardinata, had been in the organization for three years and was known in the criminal world as ‘Elver’ or ‘Anselmo’. The capture was requested by the First Municipal Criminal Court of Cúcuta for conspiracy to commit aggravated criminal offenses such as extortion, terrorism and damage to other's property.
‘Elver’ or ‘Anselmo’, would be the one in charge of coordinating the procurement of war material, military garments and food to be taken to the area of that structure on the border with Venezuela. He is in the same way accused of having ordered the incineration of a coal dump truck in the San Roque village of the municipality of Sardinata and the incineration of a collective passenger transport bus of the Cootranscat company, in the hamlet Agua la Sal de la Y.
This criminal organization is responsible for collecting extortion from merchants in the mining and public transport sector, carrying out terrorist acts, and transporting, storing and marketing of firearms and ammunition in the municipalities of Sardinata, Tibú, Campo Dos, Petrolea, sector of the municipality of Vigilancia, Banco Arenas and Puerto Santander.
