As a result of the intelligence work of troops of the Infantry Battalion No.21 Batalla Pantano de Vargas, of the National Army, in an inter-institutional work with the Attorney General's Office, in the municipality of San Martín, in the department of Meta, the capture of Alias “Chitre,” said to be the finances ringleader of the GAO Clan del Golfo was possible. Another individual belonging to this organization was also captured.
Alias “Chitre” was Walter Fajardo Lugo's right man, aka El Loco, ringleader of this structure, and who had been in this organization for more than three years. According to intelligence, these two individuals were committed to illegal activities such as extortion and hired assassinations in the municipalities of Vistahermosa, Granada, Puerto Lleras, San Martín and San Juan de Arama, in the department of Meta.
The individuals were put into custody of the Special Prosecutor's Office No. 107 of Villavicencio, and will be charged with conspiracy to commit crimes, extortion, forced displacement, traffic, manufacturing and carrying of firearms.
With these captures, the economic strengthening plans of the structure are damaged, as well as the command and control of the GAO - Clan del Golfo.
