Caribbean Naval Force found 150 tons of cocaine in 2021, the highest number reported since its creation

In 184 successful anti-drug operations in the Colombian Caribbean, it was possible to find more than 150 tons of the illegal substance, preventing the entry of more than $ 4,995 million into the finances of Organized Armed Groups.

The Colombian Navy during 2021 has managed to exceed the historical figure of encounters reported since its origins in the Caribbean. This important result in the fight against drug trafficking represents the precision in the use of intelligence resources, afloat units, air and Navy infantry troops and international maritime agreements, leading in a coordinated way to deal decisive blows to narcoterrorist organizations.

Among the most representative drug findings is the seizure of more than 5,463 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride found last July in an illegal hideout in the area of the Gulf of Urab谩. On the other hand, in land operations in urban areas it was possible to find 2,314 kilograms stored inside a warehouse in a central neighborhood of the Heroic city.

The operations in Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Cove帽as, La Guajira, Cesar and San Andr茅s and Providencia, among other Caribbean cities, led to the monitoring of different forms of drug trafficking, identifying routes, links, financing methods, structures and organizations at the service of organized crime with links in international illegal markets in Central and North America, Europe and Asia, mainly.

In July, the largest amount of cocaine was found, reaching 22 tons in 30 days. In relation to the previous year, it was possible to exceed the target projected by the Caribbean Naval Force.

The continuous fight against the problem of drug trafficking has in the same way led to the arrest of more than 500 individuals of illegal organizations who were put into custody of the authorities, finding 292 tons of solid precursors and about 83,000 gallons of liquid precursors, used for the cultivation and manufacture of illegal merchandise.

It is noteworthy that during 2021, naval and air units of the Caribbean Naval Force actively participated in Operation Orion, which left a positive report of 145 tons of cocaine found in 2021, as well as the participation with leadership in international meetings, including the First Conference on the Fight against Smuggling, as a regional reference in international efforts against common threats in Latin America.

This ongoing fight against drug trafficking prevented US $ 4.995 billion from entering the financial structures of Narco-terrorist organizations in the Colombian Caribbean.

The Colombian Navy ratifies and intensifies   maritime, river, land and area operations to prevent illegal groups, coordinating efforts with civil authorities and international organizations to confront transnational threats and combat them.
