Thanks to the synergy of the military operation of the units of the Caribbean Naval Force, this seizure valued at more than 64 million dollars was possible, preventing the circulation of more than 3 million doses of this narcotic.
As part of a joint operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force, more than a ton of cocaine hydrochloride that was transported aboard a “go fast” type ship in Colombian Caribbean waters was seized.
Thanks to the coordinated use of maritime, air and coast guard resources, it was possible to track and intercept the ship. During the search, several packages with characteristics similar to those used by drug trafficking organizations to transport illicit substances were found by troops, as well as two individuals who were crewing the boat.
Subsequently, the boat, the items found and the two crew members were taken to the facilities of the Coast Guard Station of San Andrés Isla, where officials of the Criminal Investigation Section -SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE), conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, leaving positive result for 1,390 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
Those arrested, the boat and the confiscated items were put into custody of the authority to continue with the corresponding judicial proceedings.
Through this operation, the military forces continue to weaken the logistical and financial resources of drug trafficking organizations that intend to use the Colombian Caribbean as a route for trafficking illicit substances to international markets.
The Colombian Navy, through the Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia, ratifies its commitment to the protection of national maritime spaces and will continue to carry out joint operations to counter transnational threats that affect maritime security and national sovereignty.
