The individuals tried to bribe the soldiers at the checkpoint so they can continue their way
In the frame of the operations to fight crimes in the department of Cauca, soldiers of the Twenty-Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army, arrested four individuals who were traveling in a van on the road that goes from the urban area of the municipality of Suárez to the village of La Betulia.
At the checkpoint conducted by troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No. 13, the individuals attempted to bribe the soldiers to continue their way. When inspecting the vehicle, a bag full of cash was discovered, with 935 million pesos inside, without any report justifying its transportation.
The individuals were put into custody of the authorities, along with the money found. Although it has not yet been determined whether the funds belong to an illegal group, those arrested could not explain the origin of such amount money which included bills in denominations of 50 thousand and one hundred thousand pesos.
