In Cauca, Colombian Navy seized more than 10 thousand gallons of fuel illegally transported

En el Cauca, Armada de Colombia incautó más de 10 mil galones de combustible transportados ilegalmente

As part of river operations aimed at strengthening security and hitting illicit activities in the Colombian Pacific, the Colombian Navy found a ship that was transporting more than 10 thousand gallons of fuel illegally, in the municipality of López de Micay, department of Cauca.

Guided by intelligence information, the troops of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.4 arrived at the sector of Samaima, López de Micay, where they found a boat in which three individuals of Colombian nationality were traveling, who were apparently transporting barrels with fuels.

At the time of the inspection, the members of the Military Forces found 10 thousand gallons of DIESEL and 600 gallons of gasoline, but the individuals did not have the documents proving the legality of the elements.

According to the investigations, apparently this fuel would be used as precursor for the production of cocaine hydrochloride and activities related to the illicit extraction of mining deposits, and would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group E6 Jaime Martínez, a criminal structure that commits crimes in this area of the country.

The individuals and elements were put into custody of the authorities.

The Colombian Navy will continue to carry out sustained operations in the rivers and coastal areas of the Colombian Pacific, in order to protect natural resources, combat illicit activities and works to increase the security and tranquility of the communities that inhabit there.
