At the close of the electoral activity, General Hugo Alejandro López Barreto, Chief of defense of Colombia, reported that the democratic process was carried out normally throughout the country.
He highlighted that the timely deployment of military resources, together with the coordinated work of the National Police and other State institutions, managed to provide tranquility to Colombians.
The official said that, with the activation of the Unified Security Command Post (PMU), there is constant permanent monitoring throughout the national territory to anticipate, prevent and respond in a timely manner to any eventuality that may affect the democratic exercise. This strategy is part of the Democracy Plan 2026 and reflects the institutional commitment to citizen protection.
In parallel, the Military Forces and the National Police continue to carry out operations against organized armed groups.
In Yumbo, department of Valle de Cauca, a shipment of war items and drones was seized, which represents a significant loss to the logistical resources of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Mordisco faction. According to the authorities, these elements were planned to be used in criminal acts against the Military Forces and the inhabitants.
General López Barreto highlighted that this result reaffirms the effectiveness of intelligence work and the commitment of the Military Forces in the defense of the national territory and the security of Colombians.
