Admiral Francisco Hernando Cubides, Chief of defense of Colombia, and General Luis Emilio Cardozo Santamaría, Commander of Colombian National Army, arrived in San José del Guaviare to coordinate the rescue of 33 soldiers and sailors kidnapped in the rural area of El Retorno.
During their stay, they met with the Regional Ombudsman, the Regional Representative of the United Nations and delegates of the Mission to Support the Peace Processes to work for the safe rescue of the soldiers.
"We will not have a pause until we see them safe and with us again, because we never abandon the men," said Admiral Cubides. "That is the oath to them, to their families and to the Colombian people: working to increase the security and defense of the nation, always starting with the lives of those who serve with honor under the uniform. The situation is critical, and the priority is the safe rescue of the kidnapped," the Chief of defense of Colombia emphasized.
