Within the framework of the VI Bilateral Meeting conducted by the General Command of the Military Forces of Colombia and the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Military Forces of Chile, both nations met for two days in the city of Bogotá, with the purpose of enhancing military-technical cooperation through the joint use of human resources and technical resources, thus consolidating mutual trust and collaboration.
The meeting was chaired by General Hugo Alejandro López Barreto, Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Colombian Military Forces, who expressed his gratitude for the attendance and participation of the delegation of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Chilean Military Forces, headed by Aviation General Leonardo Romanini Gutiérrez, head of the Chilean delegation.
During this important space, dialogue and the exchange of experiences were promoted around the new dynamics imposed by globalization, which require the strategic repositioning of the Military Forces in the international context. In this regard, the importance of unifying efforts conducted by sister nations to strengthen the joint fight against environmental threats, drug trafficking, terrorism and transnational organized crime was highlighted.
This meeting becomes a key instrument to deepen bilateral cooperation, through the signing of new understandings aimed at implementing programs that have a positive impact on both countries, thus establishing new paths of trust and mutual support.
At the end of the activity, the working tables led to the formulation of strategies adapted to the current challenges of the environment, consolidating joint projects and promoting the creation of collaboration networks that transcend borders, supported by the unwavering will to fulfill the commitments.
The effective and efficient implementation of these agreements reaffirms the bonds of partnership, cooperation and mutual understanding that have historically united Chile and Colombia.
