As a ”great health festival" was qualified by the inhabitants of the municipality of Padilla, Cauca, the first Medical and Humanitarian Assistance Activity carried out by the Colombian Aerospace Force at the facilities of the Almirante Padilla School, in alliance with Asocaña, the Manitos Pintadas de Azul Foundation, the El Minuto de Dios Organization Corporation, Colombian National Army, the National Police, the Municipal Mayor's Office, among other institutions.
More than 3,272 services were provided to the residents of Padilla through a wide variety of free and specialized services provided by health professionals, most of whom were transported in a UH-60 helicopter of the Air Combat Command No. 7, from the city of Cali to the Cauca municipality.
These services led the people accessing dentistry, optometry, orthopedics, physiotherapy, nutrition, speech therapy, psychology, pediatrics, gynecology, cytology, family medicine and general medicine. In addition, audiometry, electrocardiogram, glycometry, sinus examination, ear washing, partial prosthesis examinations were conducted.
Among the most outstanding activities are the distribution of 124 school kits, 490 medicines under medical prescription as well as the donation of first-aid supplies for people with reduced mobility, such as eight wheelchairs, a pair of crutches, a support cane and a Canadian cane.
“When a person is healthy he can work, he can increase his income. Mental health contributes to all of that. Today it seems to me that it has been a success, it was something spectacular, very well organized and I think my people are happy and satisfied with what has been done today, ” said Edilma Vidal, a resident of the municipality.
