As part of joint river operations conducted by units of the Colombian Navy, Colombian National Army and the Aerospace Force, 464 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops near the banks of the Meta River, in Cravo Norte – department of Arauca.
The operation was possible thanks to intelligence work carried out by Naval Intelligence and Army resources, which led to the use of a Tactical Reconnaissance Platoon - PRETAC-, with which a short-range reconnaissance maneuver was carried out to finally find the exact point where the illegal merchandise was.
After securing and searching the area, 12 sacks were found by troops that, when inspected, contained 388 rectangular packages inside. These were put into custody of the units of the Judicial Police – SIJIN, who carried out an Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH-, leaving positive for cocaine hydrochloride.
The drug is estimated to cost about 18 million dollars on the international illegal market and is equivalent to approximately 910,000 doses that are no longer circulating on the streets of the world.
