In an aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC), 60 members of the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) urban search and Rescue groups, belonging to different institutions of the country, together with personnel of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), traveled to the Montenegro sector, in the department of Quindío, with the purpose of revalidating the highest international standards in search and rescue operations.
The air transportation was carried out from the Military Air Transport Command (CATAM), in Bogotá, where the team, made up of officials of the UNGRD and fire departments, boarded a Boeing B-737 aircraft of the FAC, for a safe and efficient transfer to the evaluation area.
This displacement is part of the reclassification process USAR COL-1 before the United Nations, a certification that verifies the resources of military, technical and logistical operations of urban search and rescue teams, in accordance with established international guidelines.
Through this mission, the Colombian Aerospace Force reaffirms its commitment to strengthening national resources for emergency and disaster response, supporting inter-institutional work and contributing to Colombia's positioning as a benchmark in USAR operations at the international level.
