The Colombian Aerospace Force participates in the 66th Preplanning Conference-PREPLAN of the System of Cooperation of the Americas Air Forces, SICOFAA, held from May 11 to 15, 2026 in Santiago, Chile. This meeting brings together delegations of the member countries of the aforementioned cooperation system, in order to verify: Procedures, resources and protocols for joint use in humanitarian air operations and emergency response.
Colombia, as an active member of SICOFAA, strengthens multilateral cooperation according to the guidelines of the Air and Space Development Strategy to 2042, aimed at strengthening the resources of the military operation and the international projection of the institution.
In the same way, this environment takes on special relevance by consolidating as a strategic space to strengthen regional coordination by promoting interoperability of the continent's air forces, in areas of military, logistical and force protection operations.
Within the framework of the planned agenda, Colombia, the country that led the LIII SICOFAA Committee held in Bogotá from February 23 to 27, 2026, presented the final report of said meeting by Colonel Miguel Andrés Gil, Air Force Liaison Officer, OENFA, about the progress made in the final planning of the XI COOPERATION Exercise held in Campo Grande, Brazil from March 16 to 27 of this year; as well as, institutional strengthening, doctrinal updating and the promotion of new strategic axes related to the control of airspace and resources against the use of drones and antidrones.
Colombia's active participation in the SICOFAA meeting cycles demonstrates the leadership of the Colombian Aerospace Force in international environments and its contribution to strengthening collective resources that manage to optimize the response to crisis situations, as well as consolidate regional aviation security.
In the same way, the country reaffirms its commitment to SICOFAA as a hemispheric integration platform, contributing to the strengthening of joint resources for emergency response, humanitarian assistance and aviation security in the region.
