Colombia supports Brazil by providing satellite images of flooded areas

Colombia apoya a Brasil con imágenes satelitales de las zonas afectadas por inundaciones

In order to support the search and rescue operations in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and in municipalities in the south of Brazil, the Colombian Aerospace Force supports with the shooting and analysis of satellite images, which will lead to provide information to the risk management agencies about the areas hit by the floods and thus, identify the courses of operation for the assistance to the inhabitants suffering from this climate emergency.

These operations, carried out by the Aerospace Intelligence Branch, are coordinated with the activation of cooperation among the Air Forces in the region, within the framework of the American Air Forces Cooperation System SICOFAA, where its members activate means, procedures and resources that contribute to the care of communities stroked by natural disasters, which, in this case, is associated with climate change and increased rainfall due to the La Niña phenomenon.

The support of the Colombian Air Force is in the same way materialized, providing Brazil with a cargo and personnel transport aircraft to carry humanitarian aid that is coordinated conducted by the governments of Colombia and Brazil and thus, contribute to improving the minimum conditions for the inhabitants.
